How Antardasha duration is calculated
Each Antardasha receives a proportional share of its parent Mahadasha. The proportion comes from the Antardasha lord's traditional Vimshottari years out of the full 120-year cycle.
Because of this proportional structure, the same planet can have different Antardasha durations depending on which Mahadasha contains it.
Reading the Mahadasha–Antardasha combination
A useful interpretation considers both rulers together. The Mahadasha is the larger environment, while the Antardasha describes a more immediate phase inside it.
The two planets' natal condition and chart relationships are more informative than generic labels such as 'good planet' or 'bad planet'.
What comes after Antardasha?
Each Antardasha is divided again into Pratyantardashas. That gives a third timing level for users who need a more granular view.
