What does the first and second planet represent?
In a notation such as Saturn Mahadasha–Rahu Antardasha, Saturn is the parent period lord and Rahu rules the smaller interval. Reverse the order and you get a different period.
Why combinations are chart-specific
Check both planets' house rulerships, dignities, mutual relationship, conjunctions, aspects and relevant houses. No combination is uniformly lucky or unlucky for every ascendant.
Can career or marriage change within a subperiod?
Traditional astrologers may correlate activated houses and related planets with areas of life; an Antardasha cannot promise a promotion, resignation, wedding or financial gain.
What if shorter periods seem contradictory?
Pratyantara, Sookshma and Prana must be nested inside their parent periods. Confirm exact boundaries and do not allow short-term predictions to override practical decisions.
